Every new project is different. Therefore, we develop an individual programme of support in conjunction with the commissioning body. Here’s a few case studies showcasing some of our work with organisations at different places on their journey to spinning out.

case study#4

Pure1

Stepping Out found us the right people for our assignment, were quick to grasp the subject matter and completed on time. As such I’m happy to recommend them and would certainly use them again.

Simon Bell, Head of Marketing, CECS

Stepping Out has been a boon to our efforts. Your consultant has made himself both respected and integral to us as I had hoped. Your consultancy has been fascinating, yet very focused and has helped greatly in getting people organised. Your consultant has quite literally been worth his weight in gold and it is difficult to imagine how we would have been able to respond to all need without him.

Kevin Bond, CEO, NAViGO CIC

Having been inspired by some of Craig's writing in Third Sector, we got in touch with Stepping Out to see if they'd be interested in carrying out our strategic review. They delivered an incredibly insightful piece of work and did so within a very tight timeframe. The team they put together was first class and well tailored to our work and circumstances; sharp, good humoured and able to strike the right balance between constructive criticism and supportive challenge, I can recommend Stepping Out most highly to other organisations.

Rob Parkinson - Home-Start UK

Very knowledgeable, innovative organisation. enthusiastic and supportive as well as putting us onto some good contacts to learn about their experiences in setting up social enterprises.

Dwayne Johnson, Director Adult Services, Halton Council

Stepping Out offered a very high level expert advice. They went beyond their call of duty. They spent so much time guiding mentoring and nurturing us. We are very happy with their continued communication and support.

Heather Riley, Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust

How we helped Pure Innovations to secure a grant from ICRF - and use it to win an £11.7m contract

"The ICRF grant has made a very tangible and positive difference. It enabled us to undertake a focussed review of our growth plans and crucially to secure high-quality tendering and bid-writing support from our ICRF provider, Stepping Out. As a result of winning the Kingston contract we have significantly increased our group turnover and rapidly extended our reach to vulnerable people."  Doug Cresswell, Group CEO

When the CEO of Pure Innovations told us about his need for improved bid writing skills and a review of their growth strategy, we knew how to help.  Together we shaped an application to the Investment & Contract Readiness Fund - a tailored fund for organisations like Pure that have ambitions to grow their businesses to deliver more public service contracts.

Pure Innovations was a spin out from Stockport Council in 2005, since then it has grown and brought other social businesses into its Group structure.  Despite winning awards for innovation in service delivery, the organisation was not geared up for competitive bidding and the ambition the leadership had needed some structure.

Our application to ICRF was successful and enabled us to deliver a programme of support to prepare Pure for winning more public sector contracts.

As a direct result of the bid writing support we were able to offer, Pure were successful in a competitive tender to transfer learning disability services from Royal Borough Kingston into Balance CIC - a small social enterprise within the Pure Group.  The win was worth £11.7m over 5 years and cements Pure's expansion in London and increases the number of people they can support.
